Our Any Door project was officially ramped up by March 1 as we made stops in Eveleth and Virginia, campuses of Mesabi Range College. Though both communities are small and built largely on the resources provided by the Iron Range, this local college has some rare programs that offer students big opportunity.
In addition to a wide range of transfer programs offered at the Virginia campus that provide students a path to baccalaureate degrees, both campuses are leading the way in unique programming and partnering for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU):
- Eveleth is currently home to MnSCU’s only Masonry program, offering students a fast-track to a high-demand and well-paying career. With tons of hands-on training, students begin the Masonry Certificate in August and wrap up by mid-March.
- The Virginia campus participates in the award-winning Iron Range Engineering (IRE) program. IRE is unique in that it offers a “new model for engineering education.” Students learn through sponsored project-based learning, wherein they actually work for an industry sponsor on design projects that are later implemented.
MnSCU Online support staff had a wonderful tour of each campus and the privilege of meeting many faculty from MRC’s different programs. Sharing what we learned, we’re ready to lead YOU to a fulfilling career!
