My (almost) three-year-old is a story teller. She loves to tell me about her day, her friends, something silly her dad or baby sister did. Lately, nearly every story ends with her saying “And that’s how it is.” Almost on a sigh. It makes me think of her as this little philosopher. No worries, just time to ponder the joys in her life.
Being an adult is terrifying. Should you take that job offer? Or hold out for your dream job? Should you go back to school? Earn that degree? Take that trip? Buy that house? Say yes to that date? It’s all time. And money. And responsibility…
It’s also wonderful. The freedom to make choices, try something new, take the plunge; is exhilarating.
If you are weighing your options and worried about the outcome, take a moment to ponder the possible joys too, however child-like and irresponsible that may feel. Because if you do decide to pursue it (whatever “it” is for you), it could be amazing.
And that’s how it is.
