Summer Plans…

What are your plans for this summer?

Whether you’re diving in to a full course load or taking a break from schooling, there are 3 things everyone should do this summer.

  1. Tease your brain – Summer is a time to soak up the sun, relax and enjoy life. BUT don’t forget to keep that brain of yours working, even if it’s just for fun.  Pick up a good book, tackle that scrapbook you’ve been meaning to start, finish those crossword puzzles, write a letter to a long lost friend, anything that keeps you using that magnificent mind! Maybe you’re more of the techie – gaming type. There are some great apps for your Android and iPhone that can use and improve your brain power too!
  2. Exercise – (Ahhh!!! Yes, we said it – the “e” word) even if it’s a little bit. Walking, biking, playing outdoor games, evening gardening can all count as physical activity and wellness to your overall mind, body and soul. The Mayo Clinic lists 7 benefits of regular physical activity. It’s about more than just shedding those unwanted pounds.
  3. Do something for yourself – *Personal enrichment* is so very important. Whether your hobby is birdwatching or bungee jumping – make time to do something that is just for you. Treating yourself to an activity of your choice can reduce stress and increase mood. Try it! You might be surprised. *If nothing else, try relaxing your body and mind once in a while.

We are certain that your summer will be filled with joyful activities and beautiful memories. Just try to include some body and brain exercises and remember to take time out for yourself. Above all, relax, spend time with those you love and enjoy each and every blissful day!
